Because of their composition and characteristics, ovd dyes are designed to work in two different ways:

Old vintage dyeing process

ovd dyes can be used in cationized dyeing processes, where only a surface deposition of the color on fabric is sought.

During this process, which combines ovd dyes with a cationizing agent like fst ind new, garments are washed until they reveal an aged, yet clean, appearance.

In this way, amazing vintage looks, characterized by high contrasts on seams and abraded areas, are presented to end consumers.

Direct dyeing process

ovd dyes are also pillars of conventional direct dyeing processes, where the colorants are utilized to directly dye cotton, viscose or other cellulosic fibers.

Unlike old vintage dyeing, a direct dyeing process has deep penetration of the color into the fiber.

With this process, ovd dyes deliver a deep and even distribution of the color on the garment, obtaining pure and vivid shades.

Comparison with reactive dyes

When comparing conventional direct with reactive dyeing, ovd dyes have significant process advantages.

The range has been designed to simplify the dyeing process, to shorten treatment times and to lower the quantity of dyes and auxiliaries required in the coloration process.

Comparing ovd dyes to reactive, there are:
  • only 5 process steps instead of 8, on average
  • a minimum number of auxiliaries required
  • lower quantities and higher performance of both dyes and auxiliaries
  • easier ways to correct final shades
